Daniels Impresses in Minnesota Loss
|
Minnesota got a terrific performance from left fielder Kal Daniels, but it wasn't enough to beat the Boston Red Sox. Boston won the Metrodome contest, 7-6. Daniels was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He hit 3 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring three times. Tom Gordon picked up the win with 6 innings of work. He allowed 3 earned runs on 4 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 5. On the season, he is now 9-7. Scott Erickson notched his 14th save in 17 chances.
Omar Vizquel, who is tied for 4th in the FL in triples with 6, aided the Boston cause with a run-scoring ground out in the top of the fifth. For the game, the shortstop drove in one run.
"We'll take this win and move on," said Vizquel.
The Red Sox now have a record of 52-51.
