Getting an impressive start from Terry Mulholland, St. Louis beat Boston by the score of 4-2. Steve Chitren notched his 22nd save in 24 chances. St. Louis, now 63-41, holds second place in the Federal League Central Division.

St. Louis took a 4-2 lead in the bottom of the seventh inning. With two out, third baseman Matt Williams hit a 2-run home run that amped up the crowd.

"It was a solid team effort," said Williams after the game.
