Nunnally Slugs Senators to 8-6 Win
|
The Washington Senators beat the Los Angeles Dodgers, 8-6, at RFK Stadium. The Senators got a fine performance from center fielder Jon Nunnally, who captured player of the game honors. He hit 2 home runs, while adding 6 RBI and scoring twice. Erik Hanson got the win, improving to 10-6. He worked 7.2 innings, giving up 5 runs on 7 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 1. Lee Smith was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 11 of 13 save opportunities.
Nunnally had a critical at-bat in the bottom of the first for Washington, coming through with a grand slam home run to put Washington in front, 4-0.
"I had some good swings out there," said Nunnally.
Los Angeles now has a 5-game losing streak.
