Senators Edge Past Dodgers, 6-5

The Senators had to overcome a fine performance from Los Angeles pitcher Greg Maddux to grab a 6-5 win at Dodger Stadium. Maddux allowed 3 earned runs over 5.1 innings. Washington reliever Todd Jones got the win, raising his record to 8-4. John Franco was tagged with the loss. Washington leads the United League East Division by 4½ games.
Washington designated hitter Fred McGriff had a nice game. In the top of the 11th inning with no one out, he belted a solo home run for the Senators. It made the score 6-5, Washington. For the game, McGriff went 1 for 5 with a home run.
"Big win," said McGriff.
