Spiders Fall to .500 After Loss to Cardinals
|
The St. Louis Cardinals topped the Cleveland Spiders by the score of 7-4, with the largest share of the credit going to first baseman Brian S Giles. Giles went 2-2 with a double and a walk. He drove in 3 runs for the Cardinals. This win makes it 5 in a row for St. Louis.
Dan Wilson had a big 2-run single for the Cardinals in the bottom of the third inning. With St. Louis leading 3-2 and the bases loaded, he got a sinker from John Thomson and stroked the single to left. It was his 16th hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Cardinals ahead, 5-2.
"This team is real focused right now," said St. Louis manager Adam Rabel.
