Rockies Need Extras to Top Tigers
|
The Colorado Rockies topped the Detroit Tigers, 4-2, in United League action at Tiger Stadium. The player of the game was Colorado pitcher and Cincinnati, Ohio native Bill Wegman. Joey Eischen was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 20 of 21 save opportunities. With the win, Colorado has a record of 47-56. Detroit falls to 33-71.
Colorado took a 4-2 lead on Todd Helton's 22nd home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which Helton hit in the top of the 11th, left Detroit pitcher Elmer Dessens visibly frustrated.
"I like what I saw today," said Colorado manager , "and I can't wait to get back out there and do it again."
