Blue Jays Win at Los Angeles, 5-2
|
Toronto Blue Jays starter Melido Perez was locked-in. He led his team to a win over the Los Angeles Dodgers, 5-2. Perez, now 9-9, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 3, walking 1, and allowing no earned runs. Steve Shirley, credited with the save, is now 21 for 24 in save opportunities.
In the top of the first, Ellis Burks ambushed a 0-1 fastball from Bartolo Colon and hit a 2-run home run. It gave Toronto a quick 2-0 lead.
"It's a mindset," said Perez. "Just trying to do your job, trying to be consistent."
