Great Effort by Johnson Wasted in 11-7 Spiders Loss
The Texas Rangers overcame a good performance by Cleveland designated hitter Howard Johnson to knock off Cleveland, 11-7, at Arlington Stadium. Johnson belted 2 home runs, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 4. Texas reliever Billy Taylor picked up the win, upping his record to 5-8. Pete Schourek absorbed the loss. The Rangers improve their record to 47-58 with the win over Cleveland.

With his team trailing 7-6 in the bottom of the seventh, John Elway rose to the challenge. The Texas right fielder got hold of a curveball from Pete Schourek for a 2-run home run. The round-tripper put the Rangers on top, 8-7.

"We swung the bats good throughout the lineup," said Texas skipper Sean Norman.
