Athletics Losing Streak at 6 After Extra-Inning Loss to Mets
|
New York beat Oakland on the strength of starter Jason Isringhausen's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a 3-2 win. New York reliever Willie Blair was credited with the win, to go to 1-3. Kirk Rueter took the loss for Oakland. Dan Plesac got the save, his 22nd in 28 chances.
Gary Sheffield, the New York shortstop, contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to make the score 3-2, Mets. For the game, Sheffield was 2-5 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"To not win that game stings a little bit," said Oakland manager Jim B.
