Expos Turn Back Los Angeles, 4-2
|
The Montreal Expos took Los Angeles pitcher Greg Maddux's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Dodger Stadium. The final score had Montreal getting past the Dodgers, 4-2. Maddux went 6 innings and allowed 3 earned runs, striking out 6. Pat Hentgen earned the win for Montreal. He lasted 6.1 innings, allowing 2 earned runs on 10 hits, while striking out 4. With the win, he raised his record to 8-8. The Expos own a robust 67-38 mark.
Hal Morris went 1-4 with a double for Montreal. With one out and the game tied in the top of the seventh inning, Morris, who is tied for 10th in the UL with a .274 batting average, had a clutch at-bat. Facing Los Angeles hurler John Franco, he hit a sacrifice fly to give the Expos a 3-2 lead.
"I still think this team has room for improvement," Morris told the Montreal Herald.
