Kansas City pitcher Kevin Brown did his part in helping his team beat the Cincinnati Reds, 7-1. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. At 63-43, the Royals are currently first in the Federal League Central Division.

With scoring opportunities rare, the Royals had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the top of the first, when designated hitter Jeromy Burnitz hit a 2-run home run. The home run came off Joey Hamilton and made the score 3-0, Royals.
