Cubs Stay Hot, Beat Yankees
|
Willie Banks never let the Yankees get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his sinker, to pitch the Cubs to a 5-1 win. Banks picked up the win for Chicago, going 7 innings. He gave up 1 run on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 11-7. New York, at 42-65, has lost 5 straight.
Contributing to the Chicago win was Chris Brown. In the top of the fourth, the two-time All-Star had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. That made the score 2-1, the Cubs in front.
"I just tried to attack the bottom of the zone," Banks said.
