Kansas City Hot Streak Continues with 8-4 Win
|
Kansas City catcher Rick Wilkins had a 3-RBI performance, which helped his team grab a 8-4 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates. Mark Guthrie got credit for the win, improving to 13-5. He allowed 4 runs on 7 hits in 7.1 innings. John Habyan earned his 6th save in 6 chances.
Kansas City used the clutch hitting of Barry Larkin to capture the win. The shortstop drilled a bases-clearing double in the top of the fourth inning to give the Royals the lead, 3-2. For the game, Larkin had 1 single and 1 double in 4 at-bats.
"I still think this team has room for improvement," Larkin told the Kansas City Chronicle.
Kansas City has now won 7 straight.
