Mack has 3 hit day as Blue Jays Squeeze Past Colorado
|
Toronto beat Colorado at Mile High Stadium, escaping with a 7-6 win. The win in large part was due to center fielder Shane Mack, who earned player of the game honors. He went 3-5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 3. Toronto starter John Smiley was credited with the win after throwing 96 pitches over 7.1 innings. His record now stands at 10-4. Dana Kiecker got the save, his 4th in 6 chances.
Mack had a game-changing home run in the top of the seventh. On a 2-1 fastball from Rich Garces, he banged a 3-run home run to left-center, giving the Blue Jays a 6-5 lead. It was the 17th home run of the year for Mack.
"It feels good to get this one," Mack told the Toronto Observer.
The Blue Jays bumped their record to 60-46 with this latest triumph.
