Blue Jays Lose, 5-2, at Jack Murphy Stadium
|
San Diego rode a decent outing from starter Rick Krivda to victory over the Toronto Blue Jays at Jack Murphy Stadium. The final score was 5-2. San Diego reliever Norm Charlton picked up the win, bumping his record to 4-0. Hipolito Pichardo was collared with the loss. Dave Veres converted his 6th save in 8 tries.
San Diego took a 3-2 lead on Jim Edmonds's 67th hit of the season. The run-scoring single, which Edmonds hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Toronto pitcher Hipolito Pichardo visibly frustrated.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said San Diego manager Matt Dodds.
The third-place Padres are now 51-55, the Blue Jays 59-48.
