Yankees Lose to White Sox, 7-6
|
The New York Yankees and Chicago White Sox provided some drama at Yankee Stadium.
The Chicago White Sox downed the New York Yankees, 7-6, at Yankee Stadium. Chuck Knoblauch led the way, going 2-for-5 for Chicago. Scott Bankhead picked up the win, improving his season record to 9-9. He struck out 6 in 7 innings. Jose Mesa converted his 9th save in 9 tries.
Chicago took a 6-2 lead on Knoblauch's 10th double of the season. The 2-run double, which he hit off Bill Simas in the top of the sixth, propelled Chicago to the win.
"It was a nice win for our side today," said White Sox manager Tyler Vuxta. "Not perfect, but we'll take it."
Chicago is now 47-59, New York 27-79.
