Victory Over Orioles Takes San Francisco to 65-42
|
San Francisco Giants starter Floyd Youmans turned in an exceptional performance against the Baltimore Orioles at Candlestick Park, resulting in a San Francisco win, 6-1. Youmans picked up the win for San Francisco, going 7 innings. He gave up 1 run on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 9-7. San Francisco goes to 65-42. The win puts them 9½ games up in their division.
The Giants got a big at-bat from left fielder Moises Alou. For the game, Alou was 2 for 4 with 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run single. His 95th hit of the season gave San Francisco a 2-0 lead.
"You've got to ride the highs and the lows in baseball in order to succeed," Youmans told the San Francisco Bulletin. "Right now I'm feeling good, but that don't mean squat for tomorrow."
