Multi-HR Day for Nixon as Cubs Overpower White Sox, 9-2
|
The Chicago Cubs topped the Chicago White Sox, 9-2, in Federal League action at Comiskey Park. The player of the game was Chicago right fielder Trot Nixon. The Cubs bumped their record to 57-52 with this latest triumph.
In the top of the sixth, Chicago second baseman Geronimo Pena had a productive at-bat. With runners on 1st and 2nd and one out, Pena stroked a run-scoring single to center. It made the score 4-2, Chicago. For the game, he was 1-5.
"I thought we played a nice game," Nixon told the Chicago Daily News. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
