Ramirez Shines in Padres Win
|
Manny Ramirez left his imprint on the 8-2 San Diego win against the Seattle Pilots. Ramirez, who is on pace for 104 RBI this season, was 4-4 with a home run, 3 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Darryl Kile picked up the win with 6.1 innings of work. He allowed 2 earned runs on 3 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 4. On the season, he is now 7-10. The Padres raised their record to 52-56.
It could have been a different outcome for San Diego, had it not been for Ed Taubensee, the 28-year old catcher . Taubensee contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the fifth inning to put San Diego up, 3-1.
"You've got to ride the highs and the lows in baseball in order to succeed," Taubensee told the San Diego Today. "Right now I'm feeling good, but that don't mean squat for tomorrow."
