The Colorado Rockies topped the San Diego Padres, 4-1, in United League action at Jack Murphy Stadium. The player of the game was Colorado pitcher Kelly Downs. Robb Nen notched his 24th save in 29 chances. The Rockies bumped their record to 61-46 with this latest triumph.
Downs, now 11-5, scattered 5 hits over 8 innings for the Rockies.
