The Orlando Devil Rays got a rather unremarkable outing from starting pitcher Eric King, but it was good enough for the club to take a 5-1 decision over the Florida Marlins. The Devil Rays now have a mark of 58-51.

There were several reasons the Devil Rays beat the Marlins, but one factor was Jose Valentin. In the bottom of the second, the Orlando third baseman came to bat and hit a 2-run home run. It staked his team to a 2-1 lead.

Valentin called the win the result of "everyone being in sync."
