Royals Turn Back Chicago, 6-4
|
The Kansas City Royals got a rather unremarkable outing from starting pitcher Rheal Cormier, but it was good enough for the club to take a 6-4 decision over the Chicago White Sox. Cormier picked up the win for Kansas City, going 8 innings. He gave up 4 runs on 7 hits. He now sports a record of 7-4. Kansas City has an impressive 74-34 record.
Jim Thome drew 2 walks for Kansas City. The former first round draft pick had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring walk off Ralph Citarella. It was his 81st walk of the season.
"Our guys are never satisfied," said Kansas City manager Daniel Drucker.
