Mets Stumble, Lose to Senators
The Washington Senators knocked off the New York Mets, 8-4, at RFK Stadium. Rafael Palmeiro, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Washington won. The first baseman went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2. The loss drops New York to 1-1.

Palmeiro had a key at-bat for Washington early in the game. With a runner on 1st, he hit a 2-run home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season and gave Washington an early 2-0 lead.

"Baseball is about momentum," said Palmeiro, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
