Victory Pushes Yankees Record to 6-5
|
New York starter Jim Abbott pitched effectively against the Orlando Sun Rays at Yankee Stadium. The left-hander led his team to a 4-2 win. The save was German Jimenez's, his 2nd. The Sun Rays fall to 4-7 and continue their uneasy start to the 1995 season.
Jeff Kunkel had a go-ahead home run for New York in the bottom of the third inning. With two out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, the three-time Gold Glove winner hit a 3-run home run off Jose DeLeon. His 2nd home run of the season made the score 4-2.
"It was just a matter of executing," said New York manager Patrick McQuail.
