Orioles Double Up Detroit, 4-2
|
Baltimore starter Ben McDonald pitched effectively against the Detroit Tigers at Memorial Stadium. The right-hander led his team to a 4-2 win. The winning pitcher was McDonald, now 6-12. He tossed 7.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 9. Baltimore, at 39-70, occupies 5th place in the United League East Division.
Kenny Lofton's at-bat in the bottom of the first inning was a big one for Baltimore. Coming to bat with one out, a runner on 2nd and Baltimore trailing 1-0, the center fielder hit a run-scoring single.
"We did enough to win," said Lofton.
