The Baltimore Orioles defeated the Washington Senators, 8-6, in United League action at Memorial Stadium. Alan Trammell received player of the game honors. The 18-year veteran was 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Chuck Cary earned his 1st save in 2 chances. Today's win puts Baltimore at 58-51, while Washington falls to 34-75.
Bill Spiers's at-bat in the bottom of the fourth inning was a big one for Baltimore. Coming to bat with no one out, the bases loaded and Baltimore trailing 6-3, the second baseman reached on an error by the right fielder, driving in 1 run.
Spiers told a Baltimore Daily reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
