Colorado got a terrific game from designated hitter Bob Hamelin. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Arizona, 4-3. Hamelin was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He went 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and a walk. The winner was Scott Sanders, who threw 104 pitches over 6.1 innings. The right-hander was charged with 3 runs on 4 hits. The Diamondbacks improve their record to 56-53 with the win over Colorado.

Aaron Ledesma had a big 2-run triple for the Diamondbacks in the bottom of the third inning. With Arizona leading 2-1 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a curveball from Clint Zavaras and stroked the triple to right-center. It was his 1st triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Diamondbacks ahead, 4-1.

"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Ledesma said after the game.
