Braves Prevail, 4-2, Over Pittsburgh
|
The Atlanta Braves got a stellar effort from pitcher Melido Perez, helping Atlanta score a 4-2 win over the visiting Pittsburgh Pirates. Perez, now 10-9, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 11, walking 0, and allowing 2 earned runs. Steve Shirley notched his 5th save in 6 chances.
In the bottom of the sixth, Atlanta catcher Tony Eusebio had a productive at-bat. With a runner on 2nd and one out, Eusebio stroked a 2-run home run to left-center. It made the score 3-1, Atlanta. For the game, he went 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"I really like what we did out there today," Perez said after the game.
Atlanta currently is in 5th place in the Federal League East Division at 54-56.
