Spiders Bang Out 6-2 Win Versus New York
|
1996 is shaping up to be a forgettable year for the New York Yankees.
The Cleveland Spiders got a stellar performance from pitcher Steve Karsay, who handcuffed the New York offense en route to a 6-2 win at Yankee Stadium. In 7 innings, Karsay surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 1. He allowed 2 runs.
It could have been a different outcome for Cleveland, had it not been for Marquis Grissom, the former first round draft pick . Grissom contributed a run-scoring ground out in the top of the sixth inning to put Cleveland up, 3-2.
"Feels good to get the job done," Karsay said after the game.
Cleveland now has a 3-game win streak.
