The home crowd came to cheer on their first-place Kansas City Royals at Royals Stadium.
Pitcher Rick Reed was sensational for the Kansas City Royals in his team's 6-1 triumph over the Chicago White Sox. Reed received player of the game honors, while picking up the win. Kansas City leads the Federal League Central Division by 7½ games.
Reed pitched a complete game for Kansas City. The 30-year-old right-hander was charged with 1 run on 3 hits. He struck out 9 during his 107-pitch performance.
