White Sox Turn Back Chicago, 6-5
|
Geronimo Pena had a good game, but he could not keep the Chicago Cubs from falling, 6-5, to the Chicago White Sox at Comiskey Park. The Chicago second baseman went 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once in the loss. The last-place White Sox are now 48-61, the Cubs 58-53.
A crucial at-bat came with the bases loaded and two out in the bottom of the second inning. That's when shortstop Nomar Garciaparra, who is tied for 5th in the FL in triples with 5, hit a 2-run single. The White Sox went on to win.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Chicago manager Anthony Perez. "But we decided not to take it."
