The Chicago Cubs got a rather unremarkable outing from starting pitcher Teddy Higuera, but it was good enough for the club to take a 6-2 decision over the Texas Rangers. Higuera went 9 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 2, and struck out 12. His record improves to 6-5. Chicago is now 65-45.

Mike Greenwell put Chicago in front, 6-1, when he took Steve Trachsel downtown. His 3-run home run came with two out in the bottom of the fifth. It was his 3rd home run of the season.

"I really like what we did out there today," Greenwell said after the game.
