Multi-HR Game for Gant in 3-1 Win
|
Toronto left fielder Ron Gant had a 3-RBI game, which helped his team beat the Washington Senators, 3-1. Marty Bystrom, the winner, improved to 1-1. He held the Senators to 1 earned run on 5 hits over 6.1 innings, while striking out 4 and walking 3. Antonio Osuna got the save, his 23rd in 26 chances.
In the top of the seventh inning, Gant went to the plate for the Blue Jays. With the clubs tied 1-1, he saw a 1-0 curveball from Chad Ogea and hit a solo home run to put the Blue Jays on top, 2-1.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Gant said.
