Tigers Come Up Short at Washington
Despite a great performance by Detroit first baseman Tino Martinez, the Washington Senators defeated the Tigers by the score of 6-5 at RFK Stadium. Martinez went 4-4 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while scoring 3 times. Troy Percival converted his 27th save in 31 tries. The Senators have an impressive 68-42 record.

Willie Greene helped out the Washington cause in the bottom of the fourth inning with a 2-run home run. For the game, the third baseman was 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
