Williams Hits 2 home runs in Expos Win
The Montreal Expos topped the New York Mets by the score of 5-2, with the biggest share of the credit going to first baseman Matt Williams. Williams went 2-4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice for the Expos on the day. Montreal leads the United League East Division by 2½ games.

A crucial at-bat came with a runner on 1st and no one out in the bottom of the seventh inning. That's when right fielder Gregg Jefferies, who finished 5th in the UL in OPS with .857 in 1995, hit a single. The Expos went on to win.

"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Montreal manager David Polakoff. "It's usually not just one thing."
