Twins Suffer 12-0 Drubbing
|
Chuck Knoblauch led Charlotte to a triumph over Minnesota. The final score was 12-0. The second baseman went 3 for 5, falling a triple shy of the cycle. He scored 3 runs and added 4 RBI. Ron Robinson, the winner, improved to 7-5. He held Minnesota to no earned runs on 5 hits over 8 innings, while racking up 10 strikeouts. Charlotte, at 56-55, occupies third place in the Federal League Central Division.
Charlotte relied on the bat of Jason Giambi to get the win. The designated hitter ripped a 3-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Knights ahead, 5-0. For the game, Giambi had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.
"They took us to the woodshed," said Minnesota manager Darren Fischbach.
