Blue Jays Bang Out 7-4 Win Versus Baltimore
|
The Baltimore Orioles and Toronto Blue Jays cranked it up at SkyDome.
With designated hitter Mark McGwire leading the charge, the Toronto Blue Jays defeated the Baltimore Orioles, 7-4, at SkyDome. McGwire, who finished 3rd in the UL in runs with 110 in 1992, went 2-3 with a home run, a triple, and 2 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Hipolito Pichardo went 6 innings for Toronto to pick up the win. The right-hander was charged with 3 earned runs. He scattered 7 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 4. His record improves to 14-6. Steve Shirley earned his 22nd save in 25 chances.
McGwire brought the fans to their feet in the bottom of the sixth, when the eight-time All-Star ripped a 2-run home run. The round-tripper put Toronto ahead, 6-4.
"I still think this team has room for improvement," McGwire told the Toronto Observer.
The Blue Jays raised their record to 62-49.
