Big Day by Williams Ignites Reds Win
|
Bernie Williams helped his team muscle past the Orlando Sun Rays, 12-5. In the game, the Cincinnati right fielder was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 6. Kevin Gross picked up the win with 8 innings of work. He allowed 1 earned run on 3 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 5. On the season, he is now 8-9. The Reds bumped their record to 59-51 with this latest triumph.
Williams's key contribution came in the bottom of the sixth when he sent a full count changeup into left-center for a 3-run home run. It put the Reds ahead, 10-0.
"It feels good to get this one," Williams told the Cincinnati Daily News.
