Orioles Get Close Win Over Expos
|
The Baltimore Orioles picked up a win at Memorial Stadium, knocking off the Montreal Expos, 2-1. Starting pitcher Steve Avery played a key role in the triumph. The last-place Orioles improved to 48-64.
The Orioles got a big boost from designated hitter Matt Nokes who had a run-scoring single in the bottom of the ninth inning off Expos hurler Mark Guthrie. It was his 26th hit of the season and put Baltimore on top, 2-1.
"I just trusted my stuff," said Avery.
