Reds Lose, 5-1, at League Park
The Cleveland Spiders picked up a win at League Park, knocking off the Cincinnati Reds, 5-1. Starting pitcher Masaki Saito, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. Saito, now 12-8, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 7, walking 1, and allowing 1 earned run. The 4th-place Spiders lifted their record to 50-62.

One of the biggest contributors for Cleveland was shortstop Jose Vizcaino. In the bottom of the seventh, with the bases loaded, Vizcaino got a 0-1 fastball and hit a bases-clearing double. That put the Spiders on top, 4-0.

"For the most part, I made good pitches when I needed to," said Saito.
