Red Sox Come Back Late to Clip Yankees
|
Yankee Stadium was the site of a tense game between the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox.
The Boston Red Sox got a magnificent performance from pitcher Pete Harnisch, who stifled the New York offense en route to a 3-1 Red Sox win at Yankee Stadium. The winner was Boston reliever Doug Bochtler, now 6-6. The loser was Jeff Pico.
Boston took a 3-1 lead on Bill Haselman's 10th double of the season. The 2-run double, which Haselman hit in the top of the ninth, left New York pitcher Bill Simas visibly frustrated.
"We're scuffling right now," said losing manager Patrick McQuail.
The current losing streak for New York has reached 7 games.
