Cardinals Subdue Chicago, 4-2
|
St. Louis Cardinals starter Miguel Batista turned in a top-notch performance against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field. The result was a win for the Cardinals, 4-2. Steve Chitren converted his 28th save in 30 tries. The Cardinals bumped their record to 60-53 with this latest triumph.
St. Louis relied on the hitting of Tim Raines to pick up the win. The right fielder clubbed a solo home run in the top of the first inning to put the Cardinals on top, 1-0. For the game, Raines had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"It's a mindset," said Batista. "Just trying to do your job, trying to be consistent."
