Loss to Cardinals Extends Texas Losing Streak
|
St. Louis Cardinals starter Marty Bystrom was in a rhythm all game. He led his team to a win over the Texas Rangers, 2-0. The winning pitcher was Bystrom, now 12-6. He tossed 8.1 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 2. Steve Chitren converted his 19th save in 24 tries.
Steve Finley, who finished 2nd in the UL in stolen bases with 80 last year, chipped in for St. Louis with a solo home run in the bottom of the third. For the game, the left fielder had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 1 run batted in.
"Our guys are never satisfied," said St. Louis manager Adam Rabel.
The losing streak for Texas has now reached 6 games.
