Senators Beat Visiting Tigers, 7-3
|
The Washington Senators topped the Detroit Tigers, 7-3, in United League action at RFK Stadium. The player of the game was Washington pitcher Erik Hanson. Lee Smith was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 14 of 16 save opportunities. Washington is now 64-49.
Alex Rodriguez had a critical at-bat with two out in the bottom of the second for Washington. He came through with a 2-run double to put Washington in front, 4-1.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Hanson said.
