Cubs Come Back Late to Clip Twins
|
Minnesota right fielder Larry Walker had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Walker went 2 for 4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice, even as Chicago beat the Twins, 6-4. Walker was named the player of the game despite the loss. Mike Stanton, credited with the save, is now 19 for 22 in save opportunities. The Cubs bumped their record to 60-55 with this latest triumph.
With no one out in the top of the ninth, Scott Brosius stroked a go-ahead solo home run. It was his 5th home run of the season and put Chicago in front, 5-4.
"Feels good to get the job done," Brosius said after the game.
