Hrbek Delivers Clutch At-Bat for Baltimore in Walk-Off Win
|
Baltimore beat Florida at Memorial Stadium, escaping with a 7-6 win. The win in large part was due to first baseman Kent Hrbek, who earned player of the game honors. He went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, a walk, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 times. Tom Urbani picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-1. Scott Kamieniecki was tagged with the loss. Baltimore is third in the United League East Division with a record of 61-53.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the 11th. With one out, Hrbek hit a fastball from Scott Kamieniecki for a solo home run. The Orioles, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
"Games like this one keep the antacid makers in business," quipped Florida manager Matthew Lazear.
