|
Toronto pitcher John Smiley gave the Senators all they could handle, but in the end, Washington left SkyDome with a 4-3 win. Smiley allowed 3 earned runs on 4 hits over 8 innings. The Senators keep rolling, raising their record to 8-3.
It could have been a different outcome for Washington, had it not been for Albert Belle, the 30-year old left fielder . Belle contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth inning to put Washington up, 4-3.
