Close Win Moves Dodgers to 53-62
|
The Los Angeles Dodgers topped the Oakland Athletics, 5-4, in United League action at Dodger Stadium. The player of the game was Los Angeles pitcher and Golden Valley, Minnesota native Aaron Sele. Scott Radinsky earned his 26th save in 27 chances. The Dodgers are now 53-62, while the Athletics fall to 37-75.
The Los Angeles win was a team effort. It included major contributions from, among others, Ron Jones. In the bottom of the eighth, the Los Angeles left fielder came to bat and hit a run-scoring single. It staked his team to a 5-4 lead.
"Enjoyed this one," Sele told the Los Angeles Daily. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
