Orioles Turn Back Senators, 7-5
|
The Baltimore Orioles defeated the Washington Senators, 7-5, in United League action at RFK Stadium, with Baltimore first baseman Matt Franco named player of the game. Baltimore starter Dwight Gooden was credited with the win after throwing 96 pitches over 6.1 innings. His record now stands at 9-7. At 50-63, the Orioles find themselves in 5th place in the United League East Division.
Alvaro Espinoza helped out the Baltimore cause in the top of the fourth inning with a 2-run double. For the game, the shortstop went 2 for 5 with a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2.
