Twins Win at Boston, 9-6
|
The Minnesota Twins got a rain-soaked win over the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park.
Benefiting from an exceptional performance from Koji Akiyama, the Minnesota Twins defeated the Boston Red Sox, 9-6. Akiyama was 2-4 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice for the Twins. The win was Jerry Spradlin's in relief. His record improves to 4-2. Pedro F. Borbon took the loss for Boston.
Larry Walker's hit in the top of the ninth was a game-changer. With one out, he rapped a fastball from Joe Borowski for a 3-run home run. It put Minnesota in front, 9-6.
"Getting a lot of baserunners and getting some timely hits, it's a good combination," said Walker.
The Twins now have a record of 56-58 with the win over Boston.
