Twins Top Spiders in Extras
|
Minnesota Twins starter Darren Oliver pitched effectively against the Cleveland Spiders at League Park. The left-hander spearheaded his team's 9-6 win. Reliever Pedro Astacio picked up the win. His record improves to 7-9. Willie Banks took the loss. The Twins raised their record to 51-63.
The most critical at-bat came in the top of the 18th inning. With no one out, Kal Daniels hit a 0-2 sinker from Willie Banks for a solo home run. It put Minnesota in front, 7-6.
Daniels said his wife shared good advice with him before the game. "She said, 'Don't allow this game to make you mad.' When I thought about it, I realized this is just a game. I was able to relax at the plate."
