Texas and Boston played a hard-fought contest at Fenway Park.

The Texas Rangers took Boston pitcher Tom Gordon's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Fenway Park. The final score had Texas getting past the Red Sox, 3-2. Gordon went 6 innings and allowed 3 earned runs, striking out 7. Rob Murphy, credited with the save, is now 11 for 16 in save opportunities.

Chipper Jones in the top of the fifth had a productive at-bat. With a runner on 1st and the Rangers leading 2-1, the Texas third baseman hit a run-scoring double.

"We put it together today and came out with the win," Jones said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."

The 4th-place Rangers have won 6 straight.
