Walker Lifts Twins to 9-1 Win
|
The Minnesota Twins beat the Boston Red Sox, 9-1, at Fenway Park. The Twins got a fine performance from right fielder Larry Walker, who captured player of the game honors. He was 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. Darryl Kile earned the win to go to 12-9. He allowed no earned runs on 3 hits, with no walks and 5 strikeouts. The Twins' win now puts them at 57-59.
Having an impact for Minnesota was Kal Daniels. In the top of the third inning, the top prospect had a 2-run home run to make the score 2-0, Twins.
"You score one run, you're not going to win," said Boston skipper Brett Williams. "You can have three Koufaxes and three Drysdales, you're still not going to win."
