Rangers Need Extras to Top Devil Rays

Orlando left fielder Tim Salmon had a good game, even if his team did not. The Devil Rays dropped a 6-5 decision to Texas at Orlando Citrus Bowl. Salmon was 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Texas is now 60-58, while Orlando is 65-52.
It could have been a different outcome for Texas, had it not been for Tom Goodwin, the speedster . Goodwin contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the eighth inning to put Texas up, 5-3.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Orlando manager Ben Tennyson. "But we decided not to take it."
