Williams Delivers Walk-Off Win for Spiders
|
Benefiting from an exceptional performance from Kevin Mitchell, the Cleveland Spiders defeated the Chicago White Sox, 6-5. Mitchell was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 for the Spiders. The winning streak has now reached 4 games for Cleveland.
The game was at a stalemate until catcher George E Williams came to bat in the bottom of the tenth. Facing Chicago pitcher Jeff E. Gray, he hit a 2-2 sinker for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Cleveland on top, 6-5.
"This place was rockin'," Mitchell said.
